Google Relaunches People AI Image Creation with New Safeguards

As you know, Google’s Gemini hasn’t been generating people’s images lately.

That is because there was controversy leading to internet backlash. Actually, Google Gemini was alleged to discriminate against whites racially.

This matter became quite controversial. Seeing the seriousness, Google restricted the model to generate human images.

But now, Google has announced that it will renew this feature soon.

Google Gemini Upgrade

Recently, Google updated its Gemini photo-generating model Imagen 2 to Imagen 3. Now, you can use Gemini to generate various-style images, e.g., photorealistic landscapes, textured oil paintings, or whimsical claymation scenes, all with a few words and in seconds.

The feature is it will have SynthID, which is an AI image generation watermark.

When this is, for now, confined to images other than people’s images, people’s images will soon be generated by Gemini as the giant is working on it.

Even when the model starts to generate human photos,

it would avoid:

• photorealistic, identifiable individuals,
• depictions of minors or excessively gory,
• violent or sexual scenes

Now, to generate any image for the Gemini, you can simply give a prompt of what you intend to create.

For example, we asked Gemini to generate an image of an underwater kingdom with coral castles. In response, the model generated this image.

In the next prompt, you can also ask Gemini to refine and improve the image unless and until it satisfies you.

What’s Imagen 3?

Imagen 3 is Google’s upgrade of its AI image generation model to all Gemini apps in almost all languages. With this upgrade, Gemini can now generate even enhanced and improved-quality images and refine them until they satisfy you.

Initial Plans for People Image Generation

For now, Google will roll it out people image generation features to Gemini advanced users and Enterprise users. Later, Google may extend it to Gemini-free users. Also, currently, it will be available only in English, but in the future, it can support other languages as well.

Other Initiatives

Besides announcing the launch of an upgrade to Imagen 3, Google also plans to add Gem, a custom version of Gemini, which users can customise the model according to their goals and topics.

This will act as an expert on any topic you want it to be, whether a brainstormer, project assistant, coding partner, writer, editor or whatever.   You can simply create a new chat section, name it and instruct how you want it to perform.

Google said these Gems are now rolling out on desktop and mobile devices to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise users in more than 150 countries in most languages.
